Girls Space Empowerment
Supporting girls education and skills development, addressing issues facing girls, and empowering girls
The Girls Space Empowerment Program is a program of Intercommunity Development Organization designed to serve girls who are attending schools and those who are not in schools. Adolescent girls in Sierra Leone face enormous issues that affect their development, education, career aspiration, empowerment, and health, which deter them from achieving their full potential. Some of the issues facing girls include lack of access to education and skills training, poverty, high rate of school dropout, lack of mentors, teenage pregnancy, child marriage, sexual and gender-based violence, female genital mutilation, and gender inequality. Intercommunity Girls Space supports girls’ education and skills development, addressing issues facing girls, and empowering girls to reach their full potential.
